The Perfect Way to Say Goodbye

I recently finished my first ever teaching placement for my 1st year university studies. It was truly wonderful! I learnt so so much about the children that I was working with, teaching styles, the inner-workings of schools and my own teaching personality.

After browsing through the sweet isle in Sainsburys for about 10 minutes, I couldn't help but think that my year 5 class deserved more than a late-night, completely stressed out, mid lesson plan purchase of a multi-pack or Haribo.

I had a scroll on pinterest ( my holy grail ), and saw something similar to what I'm about to show you that a teacher had made to welcome her new year 4 class. After a fair bit of tweaking, some eBay searching, a quick clipart edit, some heavy printing and WHOLLA my leaving gift was born.

HOW TO MAKE IT:

  1. Find a border that you like - I went for crayons because I thought that they looked cute and very primary school-esque, however you can choose any border style that you like!

  1. Write the same as pictured above, obviously making personal edits where you see fit! The north star is something specific to my class; personal touches like this are lovely!

  1. Locate each item on the list - it's easier than it looks! I found that eBay had rubbers and stickers in huge quantities for a couple of pounds, if that. TIP - check which country you're buying from if you have a deadline for this! I specifically set my buying preferences to the UK only. The ones from China were cheaper but the delivery date was past my leaving date! I then bought the mini smarties multi-pack from Sainsburys and printed out the bookmarks from twinkl (not pictured). I got the crayon rubbers and jigsaw pieces (which are also rubbers) from an online party bag website and they were ridiculously cheap!!

  1. Compile all of your pieces into a party bag or plastic wallet, print out the list of things and put it in there too.

  1. Give to each child and try not to cry.

The children in my class seriously loved this and I hope that it's something that they'll remember me by.
